Bio

‘A Shared Social Arts Practice’

I am an artist, designer, researcher and creative educator. My work seeks to reconceptualise our collective emotions in areas of social impact, personal escapes and through community. Over the past 5 years I have dedicated my practice to understanding what it means to personally and collectively reconnect to place, to understand what it means to ‘be’ somewhere, to attune to, and to live within.

Through this exploration and curiosity of reconnection to place; landscapes, cities and communities, I have discovered the interconnectedness of ecological thinking and practice underpinning all of my work. Projects and works such as site specific ephemeral sculptures in the Atacama desert, to waste river guardian sculptures made with year 6 children on the Thames estuary, to collective printmaking practices using plants root knowledge, have all broadened my approach to the fusion of socially engaged arts practice, ecology and creative pedagogies.

Currently, I am dedicated to exploring ephemerality as a medium and methodology. It feels radical to create artwork that disappears, contradicting our minds built on certainty with dualities and temporalities. This year I aim to further this thinking through site specific works in landscapes, and continue to be inspired by the elemental forces and collective memories.

‘A Shared Social Arts Practice’ involves connecting with communities at every stage of my process. I have extensive experience in creative education, working alongside cultural institutions and focused on collaboration with young people, SEN participants and disadvantaged communities.

With an MA/MSc in Global Innovation Design (RCA/Imperial College) and a BA in Textiles (Leeds), I have exhibited at Kettle’s Yard Cambridge, Estuary Festival, Victoria and Albert Museum, Young V&A, Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, La Yareta Gallery, Gallery L’Ecosse D’oc and Hackney Downs Studios. Residencies in Chile, Scotland, and Spain have enriched my practice and fostered participatory opportunities with diverse communities.
